Thorndike Volunteer Fire Department (TVFD)

The Thorndike Volunteer Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency response for the town of Thorndike (population 712, about 25 sq miles of dense forestland and about 300 homes), jointly covers the town of Knox, has automatic structural fire mutual aid agreements with Brooks, Freedom, Troy and Unity and on-call mutual aid with Montville.

  • Mutual Aid Agreements
    The Thorndike Emergency Management Director hosts a "Emergency Services Mutual Aid Committee" which consists of 9 towns. Representatives from these towns (Albion, Brooks, Freedom, Knox, Monroe, Montville, Thorndike, Troy, and Unity) meet every other month to discuss mutual aid issues.
